Bale Mountains National Park

Bale Mountains National Park is located in the South East of Addis Ababa in the Oromia Regional State, 400KM from the capital city of Ethiopia by the road. When first established in 1970, the Bale Mountains National Park encompassed an area of just 2200km square.  Currently, the total park area is 2150km square; The Park ranges from 1500m to 4377m above sea level.

Yet the Bale Mountains offers enthusiastic walkers, a wide range of day trekking as well as the opportunity to undertake overnight in the real wilderness out of hustle and bustle of the city for several days.

Hiking and Trekking

The best way to see Bale Mountains National Park is on foot and for those with limited time, it is always possible to drive along through Erica belt, Afro-alpine of Sanate district to the south into the second-largest tropical rain forest which is known as Harenna forest.
